Pachai Mochai Payaru Pulikuzhambu | Mochai Kottai Pongal Puli Kulambu Recipe

Every year I usually make a long write up for the Pongal special post. Today’s Pongal special post is also not exceptional; it’s going to be little long write up… Kottai Puli Kuzhambu/Mochai Payaru Puli Kulambu is a very authentic and traditional recipe from our place, which we usually make it on Pongal festive time, also this kuzhambu pairs well with paal pongal/white or plain pongal. Whenever I see this picture or taste this kuzhambu, I do remember the childhood Pongal celebrations…where appa usually takes off on Mattu Pongal day, make the arrangements like cleaning the cows and sheep, painting their horn, tying new bells (it’s all like decorating your favorite pet :-) ) and finally at the end of the day

Brown Rice Oats Khara Pongal | Venn Pongal | Special Post for Diabetes Awareness

Today Nov 1th is world diabetic day, we group of bloggers decided to make n post a healthy diabetic friendly recipe on this day and I am glad to share few info for this social awareness. There is no history of diabetics from my side but heard FIL had diabetics and so H is very conscious. My H prefers only jaggery based sweets and he limits with half or one…As he is very rare in taking white/regular rice (for kids sake I make white rice n for H I make brown rice separately). But when comes to pongal kids also enjoy brown rice when it is mashed well, so usually I make khara pongal with Brown rice and Oats combo for early dinner. Soft Athirasam Recipe Using Jaggery | Adhirasam and Crisp Ariselu Versions

Wish you all a very HAPPY n PROSPEROUS PONGAL/SANKRANTHI!!! Pongal an authentic Tamil festival is nearing n I want to share few abt it. After the end of harvest period/season farmers thank god (SUN) with the cultivated products. I am proud of being that family n my Appa (Dad) is a very good farmer cum retired central govt employee, now a full time farmer :-). They usually harvest paddy yearly 3times, even we prepare unpolished boiled rice from own rice mill. Rice plays main role, with the harvested rice they make plain pongal/white pongal in vengala panai. Very auspious n never mingle sweet/spice while cooking. Actually use the washed rice for cooking this white/venn pongal, so it has to foam n fall on the right side which is another auspicious belief. Ingredients
Raw Rice - 1 Cup
Split Yellow Moong Dhal/Pasi Paruppu - 1/2 Cup
