Author: Sangeetha Priya
  • Apple Puree - 3 Cups From 3 medium size apples
  • Jaggery or Brown Sugar- 1/2 Cup
  • Organic Regular Sugar - 1/2 Cup or More for taste you can use brown sugar
  • Ghee - 3 Tbsp
  • Corn Flour or Starch - 1 Tbsp mixed in 1 tbsp water
  • Chopped Nuts Cashew, Almond and Pista - 1/3 Cup
  • Cardamom Powder or even Cinnamon Powder works for this apple halwa - 1 tsp
  1. Wash the apples, keep the other ingredients ready.
  2. Puree the apples once other ingredients are ready (they will oxidize soon).
  3. Now peel the skin of apples, slice and puree it.
  4. In the ghee coated pan / kadai add the puree.
  5. Saute till moisture goes away.
  6. Add ghee whenever required and add brown sugar.
  7. After adding sugar it leaves some water let the apple cook with it.
  8. Later add corn flour mixed with water, and keep stirring for another couple of minutes..
  9. Adjust sugar right now and add cardamom powder or cinnamon powder.
  10. The right consistency halwa has to roll and should not stick to the pan.

  11. Finally add nuts, I have added raw nuts but you can fry in ghee and add it to the halwa mixture.
  12. Grease any attractive mold with ghee and some nuts then present it as shown in the video :-)

Recipe Notes
  1. I have used only 2 Tbsp ghee and mine used here for halwa making is not a non stick pan.
  2. So if you use non stick pan you can reduce ghee.
