In 2009 we lived in San Diego and at that time there was no Perungayam powder/ Asafoetida powder in Indian stores. So in 2010 when I made a trip to India, Amma packed several packets of compound hing in my luggage. After coming here as per Amma's suggestion in phone call, I powdered the compound hing packets successfully 😃. Also I recorded the same in blog in early 2013 with step by step pictures. Swipe to see good old picture and the recent replica of it, glad I own the same food props still 🤩. After these many years , I noticed compounded hing in Indian store during peak pandemic period (immediately I purchased it, vangama varuvoma). That happiness after seeing a rare product can't be explained in words 😊. Since homemade Asafoetida powder is one popular post in blog recently I uploaded video tutorial for the same. In my previous post this hing powder was at the back of the lunch thali and now I revealed the suspense 😊

Its a 10 month wait to see long beans (Kaaramani) in my garden (shared video in IG story). I started long beans last year with 6 plants and it gave abundant yield. This year I sowed prev year seeds and plants were growing nicely. When they were about to flower , few plants were eaten by Rabbit. The escaped ones started producing beans now. So today I got enough beans to make poriyal and our lunch platter was Idharku Thane Asaipattai Bala Kumara 😃 . Hope I flood my insta feed with more garden produces...
